(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:21, archived)
# Doesn't really matter.
Football is for little sissy boys.
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:22, archived)
# You've not played/watched Sunday league football then?
Don't let the premiership ruin the true game.
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:23, archived)
# football is bent
and for people with no imagination
there are so many better sports
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:24, archived)
# Upside down blu-tack telly bird shooting for example.
and you only need a straw and blu tack for that.
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:26, archived)
# Oooh errr
Someone always got picked last!

You know you can do more than one sport! If you play football you can also do other things. Just in case you didn't realise.

He was a bit of a Legend
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:35, archived)
# or Crosby for that matter
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:39, archived)
# Nah
I'm against it without seeing the whole picture, I know.

I just prefer rugby.

Lovely big chaps.
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:25, archived)
# Rugby is good too
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:28, archived)
# it is.
But not as good as upside down blu-tack telly bird shooting.

# i know
but as man utd have been bought by a yank
aren't they now technically american football?
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:24, archived)
# Ooooh
Not sure it works like that :)

It'd be american soccer
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:25, archived)
# Their feet barely see the ball.
Can't we sue them for false advertising?

And then for wearing so much padding? Or at least mock them for it.
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:27, archived)
# Well in fairness, American footballers take a lot more of a hammering than rugby players do
The helmets are kind essential and pads just follow suit
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:29, archived)
# Pfft.
If they're allowed so much padding it should be all covered with four inch spikes to even it out.
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:30, archived)
# yes.
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:34, archived)
# You need to campaign for the legalisation of rollerball.
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:35, archived)
# But they only take a hammering for half the time
The other half they're sitting under and air conditioner.
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:31, archived)
# yea lol, the 60 man squads are a bit of a pisstake sometimes
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:35, archived)
# rubbish
it's less brutal than rugby
and padding only makes the contacts heavier
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:31, archived)
# still beg to differ
Those receivers get crunched pretty much every ball and often by 2 or more guys. Rugby at least you go down on the run and have the option to pass it off
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:34, archived)
# It was an arms race, though:
the padding increased the impact players can cope with, so they can hit harder, so their opponents needed armour, which meant it harder to stop them, so the defence got more armour, so the offence needed more armour...

The style of the game has been changed by the armour and padding of the 20th Century. Look at what they were wearing in the 1920s - it's hardly more than a rugger scrum wears now.

Is cameltoe still pwned by the camel?
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:26, archived)
# it was satire rather than grammar
(, Wed 21 Feb 2007, 13:29, archived)
# i know
i just was looking for a reason to mention cameltoe :D
