I use adobe premiere
and export as an ani gif. I'd expect most video editing packages would let you do that.

i'll have to look at that, sounds easier than what i do.
i rip the dvd, encode as an avi, open the avi in animation shop, save as a gif, open in imageready, and mess with it in there.

to import the movie file, and then mess about with it from there
