# have you heard?
Sonic and Mario to star in a game together!!!!!
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:18, archived)
# NO!
Really!?

/still bitter from when I had a Master System II and next door neighbour had a NES
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:19, archived)
# Mega Drive FTW
Best console ever.
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:21, archived)
# Ooooh it was good, it was, specially Sonic 2, and Micro Machines
...but come now, N64 was way ahead of it's time.

I now have a game boy micro which is smaller than a NES controller yet plays SNES games! This wins!
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:23, archived)
# N64 was mainly popular for Goldeneye I believe,
a great game but I've never been truly on the Nintendo side.
Sega made far more games that I could relate to, such as Super Hang-on 2 and Streets of Rage.

Though I do have the Gameboy SP (NES version).

#
Mario 64
Mario Kart 64
Perfect Dark
Godleneye
Super Smash Brothers
Kirby 64
etc.
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:28, archived)
# Yes yes yes!
And Zelda!

But NOT Paperboy 64. Game boy or Amstrad only.

#
I particularly like the turn the series took with Majora's Mask much but Ocarina of time was classy.

# ha ha!
Nintendo get their "Kiddy" image from the American fear of computer games
It wasn't Nintendo that removed the blood from Mortal Kombat
it's was just deemed unlawful to show blood in computer games when Nintendo was King
in a bid to stop themselves being sued, censorship was introduced into american released titles.

Manhunt is banned in Germany, you could say there, Playstation has
a kiddie image due to the lack of adult games
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:28, archived)
# Manhunt is one of very few games that are really "banned" in Germany
many other adult games appear on the so-called "Index", but that doesn't mean they're forbidden, you just can't buy them in a normal store.
Sadly, video game companies tend to release special de-violated versions for the german market because of this.
I remember Command&Conquer with Bots instead of soldiers, for instance. They just crunched when you drove over them :-/
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:52, archived)
# heh heh
yeah, it's the fear of what will happen if something goes wrong
you can't blame the video game creators
they're just blokes making toys they enjoy
they hardly want to be accused of causing mass murder
when some GTA playing freak kills in the name of digital sin
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:58, archived)
# Nintendo exclusive games were the best...
...I came in late with an N64, then a PS1

But now my sony PSP with all the firmware and emulators and shenaniganery makes it teh winnar (if we're including handhelds) ^_^
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:30, archived)
# aye!
to celebrate the Olympics next year
they will be staring in their very first game together,
WHO'D HAVE THOUGHT IT!

(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:22, archived)
# I bet it's some shitey, cashing in, tosh
With crappy sports games etc. Sell out Sega bastards.
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:25, archived)
# if you hadn't noticed, Sega are in dire need of selling out
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:26, archived)
# It's their fault for making the Saturn
what were you thinking, Sega?!
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:28, archived)
# but the Saturn was more powerful than the Playstation
they just never marketed as well as Sony did their toy

so whose fault was it really?
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:30, archived)
# Starbucks?
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:31, archived)
# Exactly!!!
*eggs local branch!*

HOW DARE YOU KILL THE SATURN!!!
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:33, archived)
# Actually as I recall it the playstation had the technological edge
due to the fact the Saturn was in part salvaged from the 32X. I was a saturn owner and loved the thing but I can appreciate how Sega ballsed up, especially with the european controllers.
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:35, archived)
# for polygons maybe
but for sprite pushing power, the Saturn shits on the PS from a great height

hence the better beat em-ups, shooters, and RPGs that appeared on the saturn
some of the best ever created in fact
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:41, archived)
# That much I'll gladly agree to
though it could have used a port of SFEX+a
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:56, archived)
# True
They've all but destroyed the Sonic franchise, lost their console department, aren't doing a great job with Worms...
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:29, archived)
# I will never play Sonic on my gameboy.
Gameboy is not Game Gear. Fact.
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:31, archived)
# they're a lot like EA now
a lot of turds, but still some great games
i believe they ruined sonic long before the death of their hardware

the Arcade market is also suffering badly of late
another Area where Sega made most of their cash
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:31, archived)
# Sad but true.
I wonder if we're seeing the end of the famous four blue letters that meant so much to gamers in the early 90s?
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:34, archived)
# but then, that's like Atari
Atari isn't Atari anymore
a French company just bought the rights to the name
as it could be used to attract gamers of a retro nature

didn't really work though when all their releases
turned out to be tosh
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:36, archived)
# *Nods*
Though I believe UT3 will carry the Atari name, though everyone knows that every beautfully rendered poly in that flawlessly optimised engine is an EPIC product anyway.
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:38, archived)
# sings *se-gaaaaa*
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:37, archived)
# The new NiGHTS may give an indication.
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:39, archived)
# Ooh, I'd forgotten all about Worms
*Dives into dusty cupboard to hunt down the original*
(, Tue 8 May 2007, 15:36, archived)
# That's just WRONG!
They used to be rivals!
