and with an adapater you can use the old lesnses (canon did make these back in the day apparently but when i asked they denied it)

I use one at work, and it's a vast improvement even on the 350D I have at home.

Loverly loverly loverly. You'll wonder how you ever coped without it.

The Nikon is comparable (I can't remember the name, the reasonably priced one) but I've got so used to the Canons I wouldn't use anything else.

Best £600 I ever spent, the 350D.
