# Verrrrry nice.
Makes me think of Silent Hill a lot- have you played it?
(, Mon 18 Jun 2007, 14:07, archived)
# yup
well, technically Wastedindustry plays it and I'm hiding behind a duvey ;)
I love games like that, but my imagination is too strong which stops me from playing it (ie getting seriously stressed).

And I love abandoned insane asylums

# Your last sentence just proved you're brilliant.
I've been wanting to visit one for years.

(my manwife is obsessed with sIlent Hill- to the point of owning the DVDs about the making of, the original Japanese book about it....everything. It's so sad.)

# Crikey...
Well if that's not asking for a game to be set there I don't know what is...

# I'm going to see if I can get into it to take some photo's some time.
I hear the security guards arn't too bad and sometimes turn a blind eye if you unofficially let them know you want a wee look around.

# wish we had that
we are going to sneak into north bristol baths at some point.

there is an empty asylum near, but it has cctv, guard dogs, barbed wire fences and guards.

# Oooooooh
There was an old abandoned hospital near me, but that's been torn down now (spoilsports)

Went up there once or twice as kids, doing the whole "AAARGARGWTFGHOSTS!!" thing, y'know

One of them was probably my fault!

(although probably not. I don't like overly disturbing places like that. Not 'cos of ghosts or owt like. I just like preserving history)

I really wish I could fly out to the states, they have the best derelict asylums I've ever seen.

This site www.opacity.us/ has the best collection of urban exploration photography. Mainly hospitals and asylums.

I wondered if anyone was gonna post that link.

That's definitely the best UK-based site/community for this kind of thing.

# There's a great bar in Tokyo
which I'm unable to give any details of as Google is being crap, it's called "Breakout" or "Lockdown" or something (in Japanese obviously)

It's split into lots of little rooms like cells in an asylum, with barred doors and such. the drinks come in test tubes, with dry ice, all kinds of stuff, and the waitresses are all dressed in PVC nurses uniforms (!!)

Then every once in a while, they have a "breakout", where the asylum inmates are staging an escape - sirens blare, lights go out, the cell doors all lock, and men in hockey masks wielding chainsaws etc come running down the corridors, grabbing people through cell doors, all sorts, with the nurses chasing them etc. A few minutes later and they report situation normal again, back to your chemistry set of shots...

totally amazing and crazy place, wish I could find some more details on it. Lazyweb, can you help me? :)
