# I never understood the point of Vegemite
Why have a vegetarian version of a vegetarian-friendly product?

# Different origins.
I think Vegemite has actually been around longer than marmite.

Plus Marmite isn't friendly to gluten allergy sufferers.

# It's because Marmite is really made from horses and tiny doves.
It's a secret though, so don't tell anyone =)

# I think Marmite came first
Vegemite was named after Marmite, maybe they had to actively convince people that the viscous, brown, tangy-smelling paste was actually based on vegetables, and not some distillate of dripping from a mass crematorium cellar.

Which, to be honest, I would have believed about either spread.
