# Plus how many lives do bicycle helmets actually save anyway
The world's teeming with people, there've been bikes for like 200 years and bicycle helmets got invented in about 1990.

I'd rathger have a melon anyday!

# Apparently...
Nobody has been able to prove that cycle helmets actually save lives (how is a piece of polystyrene going to stop your head being squashed by an articulated lorry etc.) and people have done research which shows they can cause injuries and you're more likely to get knocked off if you're wearing one!

I wear one because it keeps my head warm in the wind, a melon may perform the same function.
