And in other news, does anyone know how to get the GIMP to actually half-decently optimise GIFs so they don't end up like this?

Edit 2: now in 341k and a bit better-looking form and I'm not going to optimise much further. Thanks to wheelybird.

You need to reduce the amount of colours for a start.
The use the 'optimise for gif' option.
