because I threw a rubbishy (Top Shop or some shit like that) ring into the bin. It was my brother's and he'd left it at the house last time he was around. She, in her infinite wisdom, assumed it was probably one that she'd given me and turned sour without telling me why.

And I'm sure there are thousands of storys she could tell you about what a childish prick I am... so - buck up, but stand your ground! People is complicated but ultimately worth it.
