when we really try to keep them no bigger than 250KB.
It's a bit of a faux pas and the people on b3ta like nothing better than shouting at faux pas.
[edit] I always have to wonder about people who post a picture to complain about a picture that is too big. They clearly just enjoy moaning without really understanding the reasons they are doing it.

I just find it amusing when somebody posts a 200KB animated gif to complain about a picture that strayed a few KB over the limit.
Way to reduce the download burden for everyone.
