# Anyone else think this?
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 19:43, archived)
# i've never played
or seen the film, but that appears to be halo half life spin off, not harrison ford

edit: right after having it painstakingly explained for me i see that it is in fact a clever image well done madam
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 19:44, archived)
# psst
Portal

haven't played it either
/secret shame blog.
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 19:47, archived)
# Portal!!
I was thinking 'pulse'!!
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 19:50, archived)
# forgive me
but is portal not a spin-off from halo?

therefore i refuse to retract
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 19:54, archived)
# Heresy!
...no. You could argue it's a spin-off of Half-Life 2, since they've put them in the same world and they use the same engine, but it stands on its own story-wise.
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:00, archived)
# pedant time
the stories intermingle to a fair degree - there's a few nods to black mesa (half life) in Portal, and Aperture Science is set to feature prominently in Half Life 2 ep 3.

Just sayin'.
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:02, archived)
# Hence the "same world" comment
Not disagreeing with anything you've said, but I wouldn't call it a spin-off of Half-Life 2. A spin-off of Narbacular Drop perhaps, but I doubt most people have played that.
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:04, archived)
# I have.
It's free and it's great.

In fact, after playing Narbacular for about 20 minutes I ran into town and tried to get Orange Box, failed, then realised I get buy it on Steam.

It's the only reason I boot my macbook into Windows lately.

# hurrah x10
for booting macbooks into windows for only one reason.

cubase is mine.
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:14, archived)
# Surprisingly
Vista runs really well on an MBpro.

I have Cubase SX3 for Mac OS X, gaz me if you need a copy.

I still run Cubase Audio on my Falcon030.
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:28, archived)
# heheh
i should be buying a full legal copy of cubase 4 sometime.
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:31, archived)
# I'd argue it's more of a spiritual successor to NB than a spinoff
but you'd tell me to shut up because it's not really that important, and I'd concede
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:09, archived)
# heh
be careful, I could get used to winning arguments without them ever started :)
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:13, archived)
# No...
It's Half-Life 2 engine and is a very vague tie-in with Half-Life 2, it's hinted that they're in the same universe. But the game itself is stand-alone, there are no weapons ad you don't even have a health meter.
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:00, archived)
#
aha, I piss copiously on your mind.
Theres a first time for everything!
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:02, archived)
# actually
i believe he pisses copiously on yours as you were first

and i now stand corrected, but still refuse to retract as IT'S NOT FUCKING BLADE RUNNER
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:04, archived)
# The joke
was as per SnackyOx's comment below, not a pun on Blade Runner. So no, I suppose it isn't.

I could be wrong - or b3ta mannerisms might have changed during the time I've been here - but I think I was right first time round. Would make more sense, no?
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:07, archived)
# hmm
i always thought that the second poster was guilty of mindpiss i dunno, it's not in the faq
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:18, archived)
# exactly :)
The second poster winds up with the pissy mind.

Oh, never mind, just grant an old man his foibles? :)
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:27, archived)
# No,
maybe this reference/joke is not for you...
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:07, archived)
# clearly not
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:15, archived)
# Please
read the fucking news article. He's called "Blade Runner" right on the BBC website.
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:10, archived)
# i know
i read it about four hours ago, and didn't like what i read as it's not a ban, it's simply an exclusion
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:16, archived)
# That was a bit scary.
I haven't gottn terribly far, just found my way out of test chamber 19, then I got scared.
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:05, archived)
# Keep going :)
The ending song is well worth it, as you probably know.

I made Vanilla Crazy Cake the other day...

Gaz me if you want a tip. I'd post it here, but I don't want to spoil anyone else's game.
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:14, archived)
# S'ok
There's walkthroughs on youtube if I get really stuck. I wanna work it out myself.
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:30, archived)
# Half-life 2, not Halo
The character in Portal has specially modified legs, that enable leaps, bounds and falls from impossible heights... er, possible.
(, Mon 14 Jan 2008, 20:03, archived)
# right,
since i didn't read this before (since i thought it was just further pindmiss) i will now go "aaaaah" i see the hummus and will award it a have arsed "ya!" in apology

Very good, I wonder if just as they hand you your medal you're told of your destruction and have to break out of the olympic village via the sewers.
