There is an exception to every rule...
In this case, that exception is "its" which only has an apostrophe for "it is".

There are of course exceptions to every rule, in the case of possessive apostrophes it's not used for possessive pronouns or adjectives: yours, his, hers, ours, its, theirs, and whose.
