being burchill, she takes it too far in her 'ahh.. look at me: i'm so controversial' way, but it's a good antidote to the kneejerk big supermarkets bad/local shops good approach

this sort of thing always amuses me, it ain't tesco's fault entirely, they are and never have been anything other than a money making machine.
if joe the public didn't shop there but continued to support the nice little shops, spending a few extra quid as a result, they wouldn't be forced out of business.

They ignore planning regulations; demolish listed buildings and nature habitats without permission to build their stores.
Pay their staff a measly wage while rolling in billions of pounds profit every year.
Disregard public and staff safety in their stores by ignoring HSE and hygiene regulations (I know of one store that was selling products over 5 years out of date!).
Threaten and harass their staff – I know of a store that sacked a member of staff for being diagnosed with cancer, because she may have been off work for a long time.
I know much more about the inner workings of the company. I used to run a blog about the company but I was forced to remove it after legal threats due to the photographs taken by staff from their stores.
