TJ: on a movie tip, can anyone think of any famous deleted scenes that were never put back in/included on the DVD etc etc? Scenes that you therefore cannot currently see?

# But then how would anyone have seen them?

# I'm talking specifically about footage that you can't see in any format today.
So if it's a 'lost scene' now available on YouTube, it doesn't count. :)

# The pie throwing scene in Dr Strangelove.
I think all the footage of that got burnt or something.

# Dunno about that, but it drives me nuts when the movie and the trailer have alternate scenes
"Town and Country" looked hilarious in the previews, but they used alternate takes in the film that weren't funny.
(, Thu 17 Jul 2008, 16:42, archived)
# "oh GOD, it smells like the inside of a fake leg"
should never have been cut from the Anchorman aftershave/office scene
(, Thu 17 Jul 2008, 16:45, archived)
# Thats' the point, they haven't.
But several are known to have been scripted, and in some cases even filmed then cut - for example, scripts for Sunset Boulevard show that it was originally supposed to start in a morgue, but was changed because test audiences giggled. The result of the cut is the iconic 'body in the pool' opening we all know today.

So, um, that sort of thing.

# Ah, I understand.
and I can't think of any, but I will now keep thinking about it because the idea has been placed into my head.

# Good.

# 'Derek and Clive Get the Horn'
lots missing from that film, and the audio - I've got a bootlegg which has much more rude on it.

Lots of cartoons are band. Many of the old ones are rather racist.
Most kung fu films are cut for the UK.
Blockbuster films are cut in the US / UK.

terminator 2 is cut fromthe cinema edit.

/ many might not be famous. so bollocks

Just about all of them are.

(, Thu 17 Jul 2008, 16:32, archived)
# No, that's a good lead - don't know why I put 'famous' in there, to be honest.
They're never going to be that famous if they were cut, are they? ;)

Thanks man.

although that particular bit has been released as a DVD extra I think.

(, Thu 17 Jul 2008, 16:36, archived)

# What about the 35mm
(, Thu 17 Jul 2008, 16:39, archived)
# Pardon?
If you mean an original pressing or whatnot, that's ok - I'm only really talking about stuff the general public can't see. Doesn't matter if a copy still actually exists in an archive somewhere...so long as the public can't rent or google it, I can use it. :)
