
Duplicate the layer after you have gaussian blurred it, set the transparency to multiply, reduce the opacity of both it and the original blurred shadow layer and use motion blur to horizontally blur the duplicate shadow. This falsifies the perspective effect that means the shadow appears larger at the sides than when it is foreshortened at the front and back of the object is sits beneath.
