# silly noah rainbow is not a miracle
(, Thu 4 Sep 2008, 10:17, archived)
# Supposedly there were no rainbows ever before the flood, though.
So I suppose God changing the properties of physics to introduce light refraction would be a miracle (if it wasn't such a massive load of bollocks).

# you'll be telling us God didn't create Bristol next
(, Thu 4 Sep 2008, 10:35, archived)
# That is correct.
Richard Dyer did!

# it must be fact if it's taken from the big book of exaggeration
(, Thu 4 Sep 2008, 10:36, archived)
# The bible?

(, Thu 4 Sep 2008, 11:15, archived)
# We can't take for granted that the laws of Physics are constant and always have been.
Much as I find them hard to believe in, Science can't disprove most miracles.
(, Thu 4 Sep 2008, 10:52, archived)
# But there are no such things as miracles
its only stories in a book and therefore nothing to be disproved.
(, Thu 4 Sep 2008, 10:54, archived)
# How do you know there's no such thing as miracles?
There's a limit to what Science can prove.
I don't believe in them either, but I'd consider it arrogant to say there's no possibility of them ever having happened.
(, Thu 4 Sep 2008, 10:57, archived)
# I'm not being arrogant as i can't prove anything either, being only a humble b3tan
but miracles as in the biblical sense are surely nonsense. Miracles as in someone surviving a terrible illness (when they really shouldn't) exist of course, but then its not a real miracle is it?
(, Thu 4 Sep 2008, 11:00, archived)
# They're probably nonsense, sure.
And there's probably some rational explanation for why one person survives when others don't.
But it's impossible to be certain about either.
(, Thu 4 Sep 2008, 11:03, archived)
# True
*gets off soapbox*
(, Thu 4 Sep 2008, 11:05, archived)
# I'll get off mine too.
Sorry, I love this kind of argument.
(, Thu 4 Sep 2008, 11:09, archived)
# like the 'miracle of childbirth'
yeah - that's never happened before

there ought to be the 'miracle of having a dump'
(, Thu 4 Sep 2008, 11:04, archived)
# HAHAHA
I have a miracle dump after ever kebab as in 'its a miracle my guts didnt come out with it'.
(, Thu 4 Sep 2008, 11:06, archived)
# But that's not how burden of proof works.
(, Thu 4 Sep 2008, 11:10, archived)
# So Science is now in the habit of saying
"I've never seen it happen, therefore it never does"? Noone told me.
Religions tend not to care much about proving things, they go by faith. Science has to prove anything it wants to say.
