The lead singer's new girlfriend was being so bitchy every time I spoke to her that I just stopped trying to.

She was going on about us like we were some little newly discovered civilisation and she said "I just want to step into their world for a bit, just to see what it's like, it's so interesting...they'd never let me though, I wouldn't fit in"
I told her that we were all human beings, some of us were just more open to letting go and having fun than others, it doesn't all have to be about what others think.

But what did it was when she kept going on about how hopefully the band "would get better I'm sure"

Well...yeah? They're a reasonably new band, only the guitarist has ever gigged properly before they were formed and they were playing some songs they'd not had much time to rehearse. There were a few mistakes but really...was anyone so bothered?
