It is rather pricey, but I am sure you could find something cheaper and similar.

I'm more concerned with losing the edges than the depth, though, so the footprint is small. I suppose I could just look for one myself, lazy arse that I am :)

Yes you can. They work, but as previously mentioned you'll have fun figuring out what the extra keys really are.
Personally though I think the key feel is really cheap and I can't stand to type on it.
