# Puerile digital arts community, you mean.

# Puerile?
That means clever, right?

# with this prince harry thing going on, what does it do to aussie cricket chants?
are we still allowed to sing "I'd rather be a paki than a pom?"
(, Wed 14 Jan 2009, 0:38, archived)
# Yeah, just claim you said "saffie" if questioned.
My only thought while watching the Aus v SA series was "why does there have to be a winner..."
(, Wed 14 Jan 2009, 0:40, archived)
# that was a competitive series, although I really felt that aus blew the melbourne test
with terrible bowling and captancy on the third day.
(, Wed 14 Jan 2009, 0:46, archived)
# I really enjoyed it actually, even if it did totally ruin my sleep pattern.
Almost gave the impression the next Ashes might be competitive too, till Pietersen threw his toys out and with it team spirit.

# before kp spat the dummy i was tipping england.
now I don't know.
(, Wed 14 Jan 2009, 0:51, archived)
# Ha ha ha!
DO you really sing that?
(, Wed 14 Jan 2009, 0:42, archived)
# yeah in ashes tests, although I heard it sitting on the hill the last time we played pakistan in sydney.
(, Wed 14 Jan 2009, 0:44, archived)
# To be honest with you,
thinking about it, it doesn't surprise me at all. As far as I am aware, you have never had the same problems with racism towards Asians in Australia that the UK has had. It still makes me laugh when I see Wog Boy on the tele :D
(, Wed 14 Jan 2009, 0:50, archived)
# there's always been a bit of racism here.
and if a politican or something used the terms 'paki' or 'wog' there would be a brewhaha in the papers. but in general use, if it's not meant to be offensive no offence is usually taken. Just like we call the english 'pommies', newzealanders 'kiwi' and american's 'yanks or sepos'

However, some people do use them as derogatory terms and there are a few which are considered taboo, such as nigger, slopey etc. even abo is becoming taboo.

I think probably sooner or later political correctness will slow down the terms paki, yank and pom.
(, Wed 14 Jan 2009, 0:57, archived)
# Looking at those last three,
I would say the last 2 should go first, if they were to of course. The fact of the matter is, is that Paki is a contraction of Pakistani.
(, Wed 14 Jan 2009, 1:02, archived)
# shut up you soap dodging pommie bastard. :)
i don't see much wrong with the terms themselves, unless they are used as terms of racial villification rather than humour and that they are used in an appropriate manner, where the people around you aren't likely to take offence. One would not use the term 'you bet your cunthairs I did' upon receiving an obe...

Incidently other than convict what terms do the english have for aussies?
(, Wed 14 Jan 2009, 1:07, archived)
# Erm,
I don't think we really do take the piss out of you for anything else to be honest with you.

Normally, one takes the piss out of Johnny Foreigner because one is scared or feels inferior. We however, know that we are the best nation in the world, with the greatest Empire in history ;)

# I was watching some early 90s cricket on the youtubes
And the aussie commentator called the Pakistan players "pakis". "The pakis have got him!" or something equally inconsequential in those days and down-right-racist now.

# haha
as soon as I read it, I thought... that fucking cockend is trying to get a rise out of me.

The problem is "porage wog" makes me chuckle. It's a fantastic term.
(, Wed 14 Jan 2009, 0:46, archived)
# Funny phrase, for sure. Just imagine all the pissed-up times I've somehow avoided using it before...
...just waiting for the context.

# In terms of making a genuinely valid satirical gag (*EDIT* about racism in the Royal Family) , yeah.
I don't intend to make potentially hurtful ones otherwise.

*EDIT* Ah, slightly (ie totally) misunderstood the question there.

No, I've heard of a number of Porag Scottish people. In fact, I've put up with 'em all my life. Interestingly, I'm listening to Glasvegas as I type. And I've heard of Moira wossname.

Oh,
*EDIT*
