# Orange panels on the top of vehicles represent a friendly force.
The US have killed many British troops after identifying the orange panel. In some cases there are pilots saying 'those look like orange panels, but they could be rockets' and words to that effect, before opening fire without confirming the target.

In one instance a Warrior (UK APC) was actually identified and the pilot attacked the rear of the vehicle, recognising the weak point, without making the connection that British vehicles were not the enemy.

In recent wars (not including Iraq where the figures are perhaps misleading - maybe false), that is to say, post 1952, US fratricide has been one of the largest single causes of death amongst British troops.

I was satirically suggesting that an orange panel is what the US consider the best way to prevent their troops from attacking British troops, in the face of evidence that it does not work, rather than the perhaps more expedient option of training and intelligence.

# Alt- Text
I know it exists.. I have no shitting clue how it is done though.

EDIT: although it seems you do.. very good :D

# Alt text does not get displayed in proper browsers, although IE will show it as a title if there is no title specified.
I have now specified a title.

# well you have achieved what I had in mind
I said alt-text as that's what it's called in the firefox image propeties thing that I can get by right clicking.. as the hover over is quite often never long enough.
(, Thu 29 Jan 2009, 0:05, archived)
# That is simply not true,
it is displayed as 'title'.

Bah!

# okay.. you are right
god knows where my wires have got crossed... but they have blatantly some where.

corrected is where I stand.

# Your info is just out of date
alt text is the old HTML abusing way of doing it. But since that is not what alt text is supposed to be used for, they added the title attribute so that the alt text could be used correctly again.

# Ah yes!
I would have added a slight transparency the posters and tweaked the contrast slightly to get them to show as behind glass.

It is a bugger to get right though it might help to give them a slightly green tinge too with colour balance.
(, Thu 29 Jan 2009, 0:04, archived)
# contrast and such has been tweaked
transparncy is as slight as it can go other wise you start to be able to see the books through them. as per gstq's suggestions

I'd had enough of a bum fiddling with the perspective so I majoritively could no longer be arsed.

I now have a youtube ripped vid waiting to be giffed in image ready and played with.. but I am far too tired to be arsed.. although I now fear the idea will get done beforeI now get round to it.. hopefully it is left field enough not to.
