# horse meat went out of fashion
after WWII when rationing was stopped although you could still find it from plenty of butchers well into the 60's.
You can find it today if you know where to look and more chefs are adding it to menus.
About time too. Horse is an extremely high quality, protein rich meat.

# Horse is on my 'to-eat' list
I was recently able to add pheasant and wildebeest, a 'weird food' shop has openned on my road, they even do python, but it's an eye-watering £110 a kilo, so it's going to be steep for even a fairly modest steak.

I'll usually try it if presented to me.

# I'm certainly not squeamish about anything
and would eat pretty much anything circumstances dictated.
But given a choice I'd call a halt at python but only for the reason that I used to keep two reticulated pythons (until one died of pneumonia and at 14 and a half feet the other got too big to take to the pub and is still, I expect in Chester zoo).
I suppose that it's the same as most people here would not consider eating their cats.

# I eat it rather often
on my sandwich

Smoked or raw, in very thin slices. Usually smoked though.
Every supermarket has it.
