# i have no idea how or why...
...but about four or five years ago there suddenly appeared about ten of these kinds of groups. i think a lot of them had theatre backgrounds and suddenly bear anything was selling, so they all had these freakass performance troups out there.

it makes sense - gay men and theatre go together like hate and rape - and there were always bearish performers onstage, but they all at once began grouping together like sweaty magnets. i like having sex with them, but don't make me watch crappy stage nonsense.

# it works with a bank account.
you just add funds to the paypal balance from your bank (requires you to use online banking, which you might want to do anyway - you're a fellow canadian, and the banks here almost all charge more for passbook services than they do for online banking), which takes 4-6 days. then you can 'send' the person you're buying from or donating to a set dollar amount (which paypal will translate to their currency for you) and when they recipient gets it, they send you your goods.

i've used it for years, never had a problem. just be wise with passwords and such, and NEVER, EVER reply to unsolicited emails from paypal. there are hundreds of scammers out there pretending to be paypal, so file any emails you get from them in the trash without opening them. paypal, if they need to, will contact you on their website when you log in.

# I did not know that paypal worked with banks here.
Still not keen on paypal, but I should check this out, thx.
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 4:59, archived)
# might depend on the bank - i use scotia and they're pretty online-friendly.
cibc was a nightmare when i banked with them, but i think they all admit paypal now, too much demand for them not to.

i dealt a lot with TD last year for stuff, they seem like a good option too, but my small credit union (where my pay goes to) is the most progressive (and cheapest).

# Thanks again!!!!
(, Wed 25 Mar 2009, 5:03, archived)
# most welcome.
oh, one more thing: if you're worried about thievery or people scamming you, keep a zero balance or a very minimal amount of money in your paypal account. transfer in funds when you need them - a small pain in the ass if you need $20 instantly, but that also helps you avoid impulse purchases (i have an old drunk friend story i could tell). if you're super-cautious and have more than one bank account, attach the paypal account to the one with the least amount of money in it.

i've never had problems, but i know people worry about fraud.
