# roast pork.
I did nothing but complain about my mum's roast pork, so this morning when she told me we were having roast pork for dinner, I did my usual gripe. She said that if I could do better I should prove it.

So I did. (The only problem was the green beans were slightly cold because I was saving on washing up.)

But I'm feeling rather about it. The crackle was soooooooo much better than hers! MWHAHAHAHA SO MUCH JUSTICE! *victories*

That takes a day to flavour the pork shin.

What was I going to do "nah mum can't do it for dinner, we can have it for breakfast on sunday though."?

# Non-working code is better than no code at all.*
Unless it crashes your computer and erases everything in sight.

Unless that's what it's supposed to do and it's not working.

*I haven't even looked at what I have to do for one of my modules yet

# In communications, a code is a rule for converting a piece of information (for example, a letter, word, phrase, or gesture) into another form or representation (one sign into another sign), not necessarily of the same type.
In communications and information processing, encoding is the process by which information from a source is converted into symbols to be communicated. Decoding is the reverse process, converting these code symbols back into information understandable by a receiver.

Code: a set of rules or principles or laws

# Probably the most widely known data communications code (aka character representation) in use today is ASCII.
In one or another (somewhat compatible) version, it is used by nearly all personal computers, terminals, printers, and other communication equipment. It represents 128 characters with seven-bit binary numbers—that is, as a string of seven 1s and 0s. In ASCII a lowercase "a" is always 1100001, an uppercase "A" always 1000001, and so on. Successors to ASCII have included 8-bit characters (for letters of European languages and such things as card suit symbols), and in fullest flowering have included characters from essentially all of the world's writing systems (see Unicode and UTF-8).
(, Sat 11 Apr 2009, 11:57, archived)
# UTF-16/32 is confusing to me.
What advantages do they actually have over UTF 8?

Oh, and was ASCII 7 bits long so as to allow plus and minus numbers? Or am I making that up?

# I like your pic. It's good.

# non working code is the frustrating area between no code and working code
(what modules?)
(, Sat 11 Apr 2009, 11:48, archived)
# One reason for coding is to enable communication in places where ordinary spoken or written language is difficult or impossible.
For example, semaphore, where the configuration of flags held by a signaller or the arms of a semaphore tower encodes parts of the message, typically individual letters and numbers. Another person standing a great distance away can interpret the flags and reproduce the words sent.

# Not bad.
Although my brother woke me up this morning to tell me he had won a competition, and then proceeded to tell me he had bought all of The Blackout Crews stuff and thought that Put a Donk on it was a brilliant song :(

I no longer like my brother.

# Aye,
I liked it in a postmodern way, obviously, but my brother has the worst taste in music ever nowadays. Which is a shame, because he was the person who originally introduced me to the Manics and Super Furry Animals and Nirvana when I was little :(

# Sad but true.
I find it very strange that someone can go from being really into Indie music to listening pretty much solely to Techno and Speed Garage :D
(, Sat 11 Apr 2009, 12:16, archived)
# I agree
probably due to the commercial nature of that type of music it's very hard to get away from it as it seems to be on every radio station pretty much all of the time - whilst indie music seems to have gone underground and you have to work hard to find new indie music. I miss the likes of John Peel without him we are missing out on new groups that exist only on the fringe.
(, Sat 11 Apr 2009, 12:21, archived)
# Yeah, I guess you are right.
That is pretty much why I only listen to talkSport now :D
