# gah! makes me remember the shitty Doctor Who episode at the weekend
thank fuck Russell T Davis is leaving it alone soon

It was like Doctor Who fucking Harry Potter in the arse while watching an episode of the shite stargate tv show
*edit - while some tranny pretends to be Lara Croft with a shit accent

# Oi! You spoiler!

# why do you care if a camp welshman ruins a shitty low-budget children's programme?
(, Mon 13 Apr 2009, 20:29, archived)
# because when it's done right (the one with Daisy from Spaced in)
it's the best British SciFi and fantastic viewing
(, Mon 13 Apr 2009, 20:30, archived)
# 'the best british scifi'
i disagree.
early red dwarf was better because it at least had the decency to play for laughs, and it wasn't aimed at 11 year olds
(, Mon 13 Apr 2009, 20:31, archived)
# Early red dwarf was about fart gags and saying smeg every few minutes
surely that's aimed at 11 year olds?
(, Mon 13 Apr 2009, 20:33, archived)
# but it was 'adult' humour
rather than 'the queen's nose: in space'
(, Mon 13 Apr 2009, 20:39, archived)
# queen's nose in space?
that's a phrase I am unaware of :D

I'm not saying Doctor Who is good, 98% of it is shit, but there are gleaming lights (like the Scarecrow one) that are close to decent MR James style BBC scifi, or the other stuff that shat us up as kids.
That's what I want, not heat magazine referencing pop culture shite - erm, Red Dwarf, Coronation Street...??
(, Mon 13 Apr 2009, 20:43, archived)
# the key phrase there was 'that shat us up as kids'
you are no longer a kid
doctor who is as shit now as it ever was, but you've grown up
little kids that it's aimed at are as shitted up by it as you were
(, Mon 13 Apr 2009, 20:46, archived)
# no, there are still bbc sci fis that unnerve
MR James stories, Quatermass, etc

that's what Doctor Who should strive for, less is more moments, let people use their imaginations. Too much tv is all abouit showing everything.

I don't think I'm getting my point across. TV people have lost track of the art of storytelling

# oh dear
you create fanscripts?

*runs in terror*

*runs back*

but, do you make your own fan episodes?

hmm, with your own tardis?

well, do you?

:)

I don't but I know people who do

# anything goes on TV these days as long as it's got background music
One of the reasons I hate TV, even wildlife programs are full of rubbish music
(, Mon 13 Apr 2009, 20:58, archived)
# They frequently drown the narrative in music
and it is getting on my moobs.
