I need a new laptop... I was looking at the mac ones but I don't like Mac OS I don't think... also - they're expensive.

# Steal one.
Much cheaper.

# hmmmm
a lot of students have Mac Books... I'm bigger and stronger than a student!

# You see?
Campus corpus Christmus you should do it.

# Macbooks are obscenely priced
Yet enough idiots with high paying jobs buy them, so there's no reason to drop the price

# yeah
price of technology is coming down.. unless there's a picture of a half chewed apple on the front...

# I got myself a custom built dell
It is lovely :)

# okay... I hadn't thought of Dell
custom built by them?
(, Mon 1 Jun 2009, 11:17, archived)
# yes, you pic a model and then you get a list of what you can have
I got a studio 17, it did cost a bit more but it is worth getting a custom made one. They are also quickly made and delivered, it took about 10 days from ordering to them delivering it.

# hmm
thanks - I'll check them out

# I got a Mac Pro, but I use it for work as well as play
I wouldn't recommend a Windows user to switch, unless they have specific reason.

# good - thanks
... I was seriously thinking about it, but the desktop I could build for the price of a mac book would be an affront to God.

# Yea you get a lot more for your cash,
But on the other side I i think an expensive mac will last 3 times as long as a cheap PC, so maybe it all evens out. Horses for courses innit :)

# this is true
I've seen people spend buttons on a laptop which is a) already years out of date as soon as you buy it (mmmm - celeron) and b) lasts 10 months and starts to fall apart.

# I'm still waiting for someone to pop up and mention building Linux machine.
Let us know what you decide. :)

# I'm supposed to be taking a Dell SX280
and turning it into a Lunix based UPnP media server... just for the geek of it really, but I could do with one.

# O_o
Having used Macs for so long anything beyond changing the memory of sticking a new HD in is a mystery to me. But good luck with that!
