# the megapixel ratings (compared to price) of cameras nowadays is fucking nuts
I remember buying a 2nd hand 1024x768 resolution Olympus DSLR and thinking it was great, still takes great pictures for web stuff but the resolution just isn't there for 'proper' photographs

# Depends on what you want out of it to be honest

I'm a Canon boy, but simply because all the money i've spent isn't going to fit another brand. That's my brand loyalty, they aren't football teams.

The new Nikon D5000 is said to be quite cool by my work mate if you've got the bucks, interesting new view finder thingy, if that's something that might be attractive

"I like shooting sunsets" was his reply, and something about not being blinded by the sun

I prefer Canon camera's, however, and would poke you towards the new 500D or 450D if you are new to SLR's. Camera bodies come and go, it's the glass you invest in that really walks the distance

# Holy moly

# ha
My photographer friend takes the piss out of people who take photos of the sunset, as it is really lazy photography (in his opinion).
Though it is always pretty.

# Depends what you take the sunset with I guess

# :) This was me about a year ago
That's right suckas, I done got me some boxes
I just noticed my 20D box isn't on there, as are three five of my newer lenses ;)

Also, you need more Ixii
Canon Ixus

# Dude
Why do you need three of them?
(, Tue 9 Jun 2009, 22:24, archived)
# Why do you need 2x 5D ii?
Lordy, I had to sell some organs just to buy one (but I loves it)

# I guess so he doesn't have to switch lenses so often
or for backup

It's why I kept my 350D
(, Tue 9 Jun 2009, 22:37, archived)
# I kept my 350D too! (for the same reason)
although I don't think I've used it more than twice since the 5D arrived (I keep switching the lens anyway because I'm in love with the 5D, and the 350D is like an ex who just got a bit fat and boring).

Sometimes, at night, I think I hear it crying.

# Haha
I used my 350 about two weeks ago. Hadn't used it for a year.

Good stuff there - I particularly like the architectural shots. I'm naff at that sort of thing (coz I hate buildings and people and things that aren't animals. Or lighthouses. I seem to like lighthouses)

Can get a bit hairy swapping glass with these guys jumping up your leg

On a more basic level, always cool to have two cameras; you loose shots fucking around

# True true
So, you must make some £ from photography - I just did a little mental arithmetic on those cardboard boxes, and ran out of numbers.

# Long story
Basically, I had an Ixus I with a diving casing for it, so I held onto that when I got the Ixus 430, which was way better. Then the Ixus 70 came out, with much longer battery life (muy importante in cold water), so I bought that, along with a new underwater casing.

Oh, I also bought a 430 and a 70 for my girlfriend (both cameras and girlfriend not pictured), so we have five of these in the house. And then a powershot, some camphones, a konika minolta and another waterproof minolta cam ;)

I've just been buying cams for a lot of years now, and they never seems to break down, and I never sell any of them.

# But soooo beneath you SLR primary concerns, surely?
Fair enough if you get attached to them, guess I dont
(, Tue 9 Jun 2009, 22:43, archived)
# I had them before I had my SLRs
I mainly use them for when I go bicycling/diving/sit in a rollercoaster etc.

Plus, the macro on the 70 is pretty good, actually.
etc.
