# Went to this on the day it was announced, only to find it was a publicity stunt:

Still like his stuff, though.

# Was it really just a publicity stunt?
Bit cheeky eh?

# Yeah
They announced it as a proper news item on Friday morning "It has just been announced that Banksy has taken over Bristol Museum - only the director and the curator knew about it, and he has removed all the artefacts and replaced them with his own works ..." so my dad and I went over at about 2pm to see it - thinking we'd avoid the crowds, and ... sure enough it was closed, ready to open the next day ...

They'd done it just to generate interest.

Sell-out bastard.

# I agree.
The stick ups in NY were ace.

It is hardly cutting edge when one has permission though, eh?

Mediocre artist thrives off notoriety shocker. See also Tracy Emin, the slack faced jowly twat.

# At university (Dundee) I scrawled the legend 'ART IS WHATEVER THE FUCK YOU WANT IT TO BE' over an ATM.
The inmates of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art came and varnished it.

# it made the national news
council leaders were invited to the big opening, a lot of people're gonna be pissed off if it is a fraud.

I thought the announcement was made the day before it was open to the general public? mebbe that is where your error lies?

also, you weren't the people who were shown on the BBC trying to get into the museum when there were big signs saying "closed" on were you?
