they were making a full length version.

Also, the Willy Wonka thing, people were always gonna hate it because they grew up with the Gene Wilder version. Both have their merits, but only Burton's really felt like a Dahl book.

its an expansion of a short by a Shane Acker. Burton liked it and funded it, he's only down as Producer.

# to be honest from a technical standpoint I'm yet to be impressed
the chunks I've seen would have been impressive had they come out when the short did and everyone still liked the Matrix, but compared to the animator skills and shader experts at Pixar and Dreamworks it's a touch flat and wooden. Fingers crossed the story is a cut above the competition (which isn't hard with Dreamworks)

but the story is everything, it shouldn't alter from the books one bit, and I suspect this does quite a lot.
