Did you know that the European Elk and the American Moose are the same species
and that in America they have a thing they call an Elk because it reminded the settlers of European Elk and they didn't realise at the time that European Elk live there too? So they called it an Elk and then they got further north and found actual Elk and didn't have anything to call it because they'd already used up the name Elk on the other things that aren't really Elk but which reminded them of Elk, so they called it a Moose.
The things they call Elk are also called Wapiti sometimes too.
