# what id do
is use zamzar to convert to .mov
then open the mov in Image Ready and save as a gif

But I'm sure there's an easier way

# I use
youtubedownload.altervista.org/ to download and convert to avi (Xvid)
www.divx-digest.com/software/avifourcc.html to recode it as DivX
www.virtualdub.org/ to open and crop and save image sequence (you can change the frame rate)
www.benetonsoftware.com/Beneton_Movie_GIF.php to arrange as a gif and save.

# Screengrabbing will only work if you have deactivated Hardware Acceleration on your graphic card
Otherwise you will only get a black square. You can deactivate it in the properties:Advanced:troubleshooting bit.

# to add anothe rmethod
I like using VLC to play the file and then it has a sceen grab button so you can pull out the frames you want. :)
