lonely folks take cabbage out for walks
‘I feel I can transfer my negative thoughts about myself to the cabbage, go for a walk with it and come home feeling better about myself

That makes perfect sense to me
What a perfect way to overcome depression and loneliness by breaking the ice having conversations with other completely mental people taking their cabbages out for a walk to overcomedepression and loneliness being utterly mental. I feel people dragging broken umbrellas on leads would better summarise the broken state of their brains and help them accept the forlorn nature of their insignificant and fruitless existence more effectively. Nothing is as forlorn as an abandoned umbrella.

"accept the forlorn nature of their insignificant and fruitless existence"
What better way to do that than through Absurdism?

But their existence need not be fruitless
Simply exchange the cabbage for a pineapple.

Pak Choi (Brassica rapa, chinensis)
Is a brassica, as are cabbages - so it's the same thing in my book

I've found its fun to replace the word walk with wank and walking with wanking in news articles

I've replaced walking with wanking in real life.
Now my legs have withered away and I have a right arm like a fiddler crab.
