don't worry...
america-phillia is a self limiting condition...
first they start celebrating halloween...
then they start rioting in retail stores...
then they eat themselves to death....
we just need to apply fructose to this situation.

according to this article
It was brought over by online store Amazon four years ago as internet shoppers noticed the US got the best deals.

Retailers definitely didnt see another opportunity to whip the bovine masses into a buying frenzy, that just happened by accident. They are doing us all a favour.

But it makes me SAAAAD man :(
Unrelated, (though you mentioned fructose): Gave up sugar (as much as is possible) a few months back. It's amazing where food manufacturers put it. And yes, I am now the smuggest man in bristol (quite a feat).

I see what you're implying.
But I believe (perhaps wrongly) that the problem is the (evolutionarily) recent glut of glucose & fructose into our diet.

glucose is a vital part of living,
and fructose is no worse than any other sugar... sugar, is pretty much sugar, it just comes in "cheaper forms" and therefore used with greater abandon!
ADDED sugar is the enemy...
want a cake, make it yourself and judge the amount of sugar reasonably...
Don't cut out sugar, just cut out unnecessarily added sugar...
and eat more saturated fat,

I agree with all this. Though I would say cake sugar *is* "unnecessary sugar".
Once you start to notice though, added sugar appears everywhere.... the cereal aisle is basically all added sugar, with about three exceptions.

Dairy past childhood is recient too.
Which is why a lot of people lose the ability to digest it.
And sugar is sugar. Sucrose, lactose, fructose it all causes problems in excess.
Gave up dairy a while back and my blood sugar levels have improved nicely.
