
Though, I'd argue limitation has always been an important aspect of creativity. CG allowing people to show more-or-less anything probably stops people searching for more interesting visual solutions.

I get what you're saying about finding interesting work arounds, but the ability to fly a camera through a solid pane of glass to continue a dialogue unbroken is ace.

...that just redefines the practice of good film-making slightly. Limitation is still an important part of the creativity because if a director chooses to use CG to create "more-or-less anything", and does it badly/unconvincingly, he has failed in many beholding eyes. Learning how to use it wisely and combining it with practical effects & in-frame reference material introduces a new set of creative limitations for a talented director.
