This is a normal post Here's my two cents.
I don't think they were underplaying the homophobic dimension of the attack, but I do think that Jones was overstating it to the exclusion of any other factors. What I mean by that is that Jones was saying it was 100% homophobia and zero percent anything else. The fact that the guy had been on islamic extremism watch lists and claimed allegiance to ISIS when he called the police proves that homophobia was not the only factor, although it was quite obviously his primary motivation. Jones doesn't want to besmirch the religion of peace in any way as that doesn't suit his agenda. He claims the attacker wasn't at all religious, but I've read he was a regular at his mosque and the Imam has spoken of knowing him since he was a child. Jones knows better, he wasn't a muslim, just a homophobe apparently.

The point the other two I think were trying and failing to make is that while it was primarily an attack against LGBTs, on a secondary level it was an attack on western liberal democracy in general where homosexuality isn't just tolerated, but accepted and embraced. I'm sure most of the victims were gay, but straight people sometimes go to gay clubs too. Gay people sometimes have straight parents, siblings and friends. Those straight people are indirect victims of this too, so I don't think this is just about homophobia. Jones however wanted all the victimhood for the LGBT community. But apparently I wouldn't understand.

This is a normal post His co worker said the dude spoke all the time about killing
And it is hard not to relate the pledge to ISIS and reports of ISIS doing terrible things to gays - one follows the other.

His father is a right fanatic as well.

This is a normal post Yeah but I think it looks more like a lone wolf wanting to emulate ISIS in his rather sad, sick, fanboy way
rather than having any real dealings with the ISIS hierachy.

This is a normal post Most terrorist cells never allow contact beyond one or two levels. That is how they preserve themselves.
And ISIS has been calling for lone wolf attacks; combine that with the Orlando imam calling for the destruction of gays and it is a horrible stew of bad.

This is a normal post No, his point that it was both homophobic and terrorism
Not one to the exclusion of the other.

Watch the video again.
