This is a normal post Unfortunately there's a significant chunk of the political spectrum that's been trained to equate fact with "elitism."
Good on them though for at least trying to point out fact vs. fiction. In the U.S. there seems to be more people who would rather just point and laugh at Trump then take the time to rationally refute his point of view and it's implications. Maybe once debate season starts...

This is a normal post You can't rationally refute Trump.
Anyone willing to listen will already know that he's a complete buffoon. Anyone who actually needs convincing will be about as easy to sway as a creationist with bibles stuffed in both ears.

I struggle to think of a parallel. Indeed I don't think there are any examples in Western democracy of an electorate being so thoroughly misled with such dramatic consequences.

All this so that a group of posh manchildren can continue their petty school vendettas. It feels like we're in Tokyo once Godzilla and Mothra have finished with it.

This is a normal post Quite unconvincing
Saw Andrew Neil rip this bloke to shreds on TV. Good when assumed to an expert. Fell to bits when questioned.

This is a normal post Andrew Neil is a professional asshole though
Brillo might chat a good shit in the quickfire format of a TV interview, but it's far easier to knock something down than it is to build it, especially when you're in your element.

Mr Prof came on expecting to be listened to, Brillo fairly gently asked him to justify his words, particularly in the light of previous comments he made which proved to be wrong, and he folded spectacularly. Personally, I'm ambivalent to both of them and wanted to hear what the Prof had to say.

Its easy to knock something down if it has no foundation. And Prof was in his element - talking economics.

This is a normal post Please elaborate on the being convinced thing
What did he say that sounded controversial or unfounded?

I am not trying to be a dick, I am just obviously biased to one way of thinking, and want to be able to see the other side of the argument.

He used evidence and years of experience in knowing the laws inside out to be able to teach them but at the end of the day he is an expert so must be burned at the stake!
