I was really up for VR this time
But I think that forcing a walled garden/ exclusive titles ecosystem onto a display format is taking the piss. It's like having TVs that only play certain films.
And of all the scumbag outfits to be pushing it, that it's Facebook, just sapped a lot of the interest for me.
The games look cool, I just get the feeling I'd be being exploited via the oculus app somehow as a secondary revenue stream.

The movement system at 13:30 is an interesting work around to the feeling (even if only the feeling) of being in a "walled garden".
Haven't look into the rest of it; but no doubt, profit is, as always, a motive.

Walled garden referring of course to the fact that each system has exclusive titles of course, not any feeling of immobility within the games.

most of the games will eventually end up on steam.
looking forward to getting my 'quest' this spring. currently only have the gearVR which is great for pron, but board with the games for it.

Honestly, there's no real facebookyness about it. I don't have an FB or Wahtsapp account but the Rift Store works without any of that.

We got a Rift for christmas.
Not bought any games yet, just playing with the free ones and demos.
Is there anything you can recommend? I read that Superhot was good but others have said it's too short and limited.
Have to say though it's impressive stuff and doesn't give me the motion sickness I thought it would.

I really like superhot, it's the best use of the whole shebang so far for me. Doesn't make you feel sick as it isn't moving about and is hilarious to watch people play. Made me feel like I was in a James Bond film or something, but yes it is fairly short.
And if you're into waving your head about looking like a loon try Headmaster, you have to head footballs chucked by a robot at targets dotted about the place. It is top lols after a few beers.
