Jamie Oliver does simple recipes that people with no prior experience of cooking can have a go at at home. It’s not intended to be authentic, or restaurant quality. It’s supposed to be easy and fun.

I thought the problem with olive oil was the low smoke point.
If you get it hot enough for stir-fry it tastes terrible.

uncle Roger is supposed to be a prick
You all realise uncle Roger is a character made up by a young actor who is making fun of his older relatives? He's supposed to be a stereotypical bitter divorced middle aged asian man who mansplains way too much. I think he actually does a good job of doing it humorously. He also clearly can't actually cook to save himself.
