Apparently they do.
But I was referring to my belief that b3tans' youtube recommendations are increasingly similar because we're signed in when we watch things on /links.
Tell me, have you noticed any suggestions for Team Fortress 2 videos on your youtube home page? Or Techmoan, perhaps?

Or
Youtube does not have a very clever algorithm and just shows everyone the same.

If you feel that your recommendations are synching up with other b3tans*
then try any of the following:
go through a few playlists that have a common factor that isn't a genre (e.g. pick one where the year is a common factor)
try rejecting a load of suggested channels
change your location to a different country for a few days, maybe a different one each day for a week
*synching up, isn't that something that women supposedly do or is that a load of hooey?
