This is a normal post Poor bastard, but that would NEVER work on me!
(Because I'm not a lonely widower in his late 60s. A scam designed for me would work perfectly i'm sure).

This is a normal post I nearly got phone-scammed once
they spoofed my bank phone number, were trying to help me with some "fraudulent transactions" and the guy on the end of the line was totally reeling me in. It was only when I told them I had an overdraft of £248 that they hung up and I realised what I'd been on the way to falling for.

I don't keep any cash in my bank account and I have a 0% overdraft of £250 so all my money is in places it can earn interest but this guy was sooooo good. Honestly. He was playing me like a virtuoso and I always thought I was wise to that kind of shenanigens.

No. We're all susceptible to being scammed, it just takes someone who knows what they're doing. The best thing is to not have any assets worth taking.

This is a normal post my bank card must have fallen out of my pocket in the carpark for some hiking trails
When I got back a couple of hours later from the walk I rang my bank to cancel it. there were 15 160 quid transactions on them to some place in Leicestershire made in that 2 hours. this was on a mountain a three hours drive from melbourne. The fuckers work fast

This is a normal post I had some cockend
Pretending to be from ee with a “discount”

So I says, “if you’re actually from ee you’ll be able to tell me what I last bought from you”

To which cockend replied, “a mobile phone”

This is a normal post I had a similar experience back around '02:
This was back when it was Orange. I’m on my lunch break and my phone rings.
“I’m calling from Orange because your contract has expired and you can upgrade your phone.”
“You’re not calling from Orange.”
“Yes I am.”
“Orange don’t do outbound sales, how did you get this number?”
“They gave it to us.”
“No, they didn’t. Would you like to know how I know?”
“…”
“I work for Orange, in dealer support, and you’ve just called me on my staff phone. Orange don’t sell their customers’ phone numbers, much less their own, which means you’re using a random dialler. That’s explicitly prohibited in your employer’s dealer agreement.”
“Sorry to bother you…”
“I’m going to hang up now. After I do please go and tell your boss that they’ll be hearing from me tomorrow morning.”

And they did. Also, fuck Carphone Warehouse.
