When the boat is in a vertical position its really stable as it goes really deep. If you used a normal boat it would be affected by the movements of the sea and so you wouldn't get accurate measurements.

it's a lot more impressive now, but I'm still a tad nonplussed as to how measuring waves etc is so important to us as to devise and build this obv impressive and presumably expensive 'ship'... (although I've been at the vodka this evening with my pal so I think I should probably revisit this vid tomorra to fully appreciate it x).
