This is a normal post that'll be shitty especially as we don't have an internet connection in our front room (wireless signal doesn't reach)

This is a normal post Move the hub, then?
Or steal it from the neightbours. I bet most of their passwords are either "password" or "Bollox" anyway...

Problem solved.

This is a normal post i have been meaning to ask neighbour
his signal is super strong and I do know him a bit. He introduced himself after saying hello on twitter after recognising a picture of a cat I tweeted. "I've seen that cat!" And eventually we both unplugged ourselves from the internet and left the house and said hello to each other.

This is a normal post Have you tried an n wifi router?
(as opposed to b or g) They're a bit more expensive but generally have better range/signal strength

This is a normal post Get some of those plug in Belkin signal boosters
you can have internets anywhere you can stick a plug (not there).

This is a normal post they don't work here
I've tried them - I think they want the circuits to be on the same ring main and we appear to have three (!?) in our house. Old victorian house and shitty wiring that's been patched and patched due to change of use with conversions and extensions etc.

No luck with the relay booster stuff whatever that's called either. Well it'll work for about 1hr then need one or both boxes rebooting.

Really the only solid way is run a cable and the last time I got a quote from an electrician to do it all tidy etc he wanted £500 so I thought fuck it - I don't need internet that badly in that room. For films I just stick stuff on a USB stick.

This is a normal post the cost isn't so much the cable
it's the "do it all tidy" i.e. drilling holes in ceiling, trailing it under floorboards, pinning it to edges of walls, repainting
