This is a normal post The intro and the final scene are the best parts
But the whole film is generally brilliant, it almost totally relies on dialogue which is amazing. sadly twattish students reduce it to catchphrase comedy and its far far better than that.

This is a normal post I loved this film as a student.
The constant drinking and drug use seemed to to be nothing less than heroic at the time.

I revisited the film ten years later, and it was like watching a completely different movie. Far from being heroic, it had become utterly tragic - motivated not by joy as I had originally seen it, but by despair.

This is a normal post Exactly my experience
once you get past the drinking games shenanegins, it becomes a properly tragic but beautiful film about male friendship.

This is a normal post I never saw them as having fun, even as a young stoner , they looked pretty tragic to me.
The only time I ever wanted to be them was the scene with Danny when they return to their flat.

This is a normal post One of the few films to feature a Beatles song not sung by impersonators IIRC
Some lovely music in there but the OST CD's a pile of pants because of licensing issues.

This is a normal post For years I had only seen bits here and there,
all together I'd seen all of it, but in parts, over the years, late night viewing and smoking. Watched it all in one go one day.
I bet I'm not the only one who saw it this way.
