This is a normal post Videos not working but I read the story
Got a lot of respect for war reporters, bloody dangerous job.

Weren't Al Qaeda in Libya too?
I've been thinking in a tinfoil hat kind of way in the past couple of years the CIA spooks have slowly regained control over that franchise.

[edit]
Worst case I can see is Turkey invading north Syria under the guise of humanitarian reasons but more to stop the local Kurds getting uppity.
Iran then getting involved attacking Turkey.
Turkey invokes article 5(I think that's the one) Bringing NATO into a conflict with Iran.
Spice that up with a little VX and some pissed off Ruskies and you've got interesting times.

This is a normal post Your little story was fun until you mentioned VX
Nato won't use VX. Unless the nukes start going off first. The US realised how deadly that stuff was a while back -they're destroying stockpiles 'cause of how pant-shittingly deadly it is.

This is a normal post Er.... I was a little more worried about the VX that Syria is meant to have.
But thank you for reading my little story and making up your own ending.

This is a normal post I had dinner with a mate last night who was a UN observer in Sarajevo
when it all kicked off in the '90s.

Told me a story about slinging a hammock between 2 trees on his first day, getting in it very carefully and then getting out of it very quickly when bullets started pinging over his head!

This is a normal post Al Qaeda flags?
What are you on about?

One of them is the flag of the old Syrian Republic, as adopted by the rebels at the moment; the other is a black flag with writing on it - and that could mean one of any number of thigs. I don't see how you can impute any kind of Al Qaeda link with either of them.

This is a normal post look closer
at the bottom of the black flag is:

Osama bin Laden - 4 eva in our harts

This is a normal post Oh, dear.
There is no such thing as the AQ flag.

The inscription is the shahada - the same as on the Saudi flag. It might be the case that some AQ affiliates use a black flag with white shahada - but that has been used by various Islamist groups since the 1990s; not everyone who uses the flag is AQ. Since the rebellion in Syria is largely sectarian, it isn't surprising that there'd be some tendency to Islamism in some sectors.

You shouldn't take your politics lessons from Telegraph photo editors.

This is a normal post Not that I want to back Mr Flaps up here but the BBC was also pointing out Cars traveling under the Al qaeda banner
Which along with other islamist groups is the shahada in white on a black flag. Colour seems to be important to them,Hamas has green and the Taliban white.

This is a normal post You still haven't established the truth of the claim you made in the OP,
or given any reason to think it true.
