What's his message?
Is he saying that if the banks didn't lend people any money for houses then we'd have had no house price inflation?
His 9584% (omg) is actually 8% per year (which includes the near 20% inflation of the 70s remember). Inflation over that period is roughly 5.5% per year.
We have 10 million + extra people now than 1952 and substantially less than 10m+ extra places to live, so it's not really surprising prices have risen a bit above that.
I'm also completely priced out of buying, but he's not really helping me, or you.

What causes the housing `bubble´ is people willing to pay the inflated prices combined with an ever increasing population on a not increasing surface area.

Here's some advice.
Stop trying to cram one more dwelling into an already overcrowded population centre.
There's plenty of housing going begging if you're willing to get out of the big cities.
Last year I bought a 3 bed town house with driveway,garage & garden.
Low crime area, 10 mins walk to the shops or train station.
Station is 45 mins from kings cross.
Clean air, nice people.
All this for £100,000.

People in massive debt are easier to control.
If you're paying off a mortgage in a job you hate, how can you possibly find the time to complain about anything, or even do anything except sit in front of the TV and stay "on message" ?

The guy I buy my lunch from three times a week revealed to me the other day he used to work in the city

According to him, what's been exposed in irregularities, corrupt banking and dodgy finance isn't even the tip of the ice burg.
