A Rumour of War is also worth a read. In fact ... there was quite a few very good books spawned, many fairly impartial.

Dispatches is indeed great, without him we wouldn't have Apocalypse Now or Full Metal Jacket, he's been kind of overlooked a lot for depicting a reality a lot of people in his country didn't want to see.

been a few years since i last read this so may just dig it out and reread it again
