If you're interested in the Vietnam War, or war reporting, and haven't read Dispatches then do yourself a favour and get yourself a copy.

I also enjoyed Chicken Hawk and Tunnels of Cu Chi ... amongst others

A Rumour of War is also worth a read. In fact ... there was quite a few very good books spawned, many fairly impartial.

was good too, great opening focusing on a vietnamese peasant over thirty years and the parade of strangers visiting him to let him know they're in charge...

Dispatches is indeed great, without him we wouldn't have Apocalypse Now or Full Metal Jacket, he's been kind of overlooked a lot for depicting a reality a lot of people in his country didn't want to see.

Bought this for myself, lent it to others, and given a copy to someone as a present. One of those books worth reading.
