There are a lot of opinions on the birth of Electronic dance music..
How about some glitch hop from 1968?
No, REALLY!
The Silver Apples had a sampler and oscillators in Nineteen bloody sixty eight.
I need to lay down.

Sure it has lots of fibre, but I don't think it is good for you.

Fixed if for you. You can get an awesome listening experience with vinyl, and it involves lots of cool looking expensive hi-fi, and high quality recordings, but other media can produce similar and better sound at a much lower price and without other drawbacks. It's really only for serious classical music hi-fi freaks. Or hipster wankism, take your pick. Or maybe actual live DJ'ing, like how it used to be done - before they just rocked up with a USB and hit play. Where's your middle age back problems from carrying that record bag you cunts! Sorry, I rant-mumbled.

Signal generators (variable oscillators) had been a standard piece of audio/radio test equipment for decades by that point.
Drums were live.
Cool track and band, though (saw the modern incarnation a few years ago).
