Christ, guitarists like that depress me: Technique over style or actual musical worth. Or other people's enjoyment.

Get yourself a soul and play something you wrote yourself.

Doing ok I think. Can play basic stuff like Alouette and "standing in the need of prayer" sounds good in a blues piano VST I have.
Glad I went for the midi controller option.

It made for some acceptable background music whilst I did my sewing! :-)

I mean the guy obviously spent hours learning that, but it's not that great - a few sweep-piled arpeggios does not make you Steve Vai...Hell, even Dragonforce write their own computer-game-esque songs (well, extended solos, more than songs).
I admit I'd be more impressed if he wrote or improvised something that he could show off his shredding to. I can play a lot of megadeth tunes without breaking a sweat due to too many teenage hours spent practising, but I find it much harder to write something instrumental that doesn't sound like I am just practising scales. Still, he'd be good for a pub-gig covers band on this evidence, but I'll wait until I see something original before I pass judgement on whether he is actually any good as a musician.
Still, he knows his instrument, to a degree, so unless the haters can do a better version, give the guy a break.
