Most of you lot will be old enough to remember Terrahawks.
Well, I made that game that Ninestein always plays in the programme.
Here's a little trailer I knocked up, and you can download it here for free if you fancy it.

I have no recollection of ever seeing Terrahawks, but I love the story behind why you made it :)

Cheers. There's a little snippet of the game at the start of the intro, but it's worth watching the whole thing for an epic theme tune and title sequence:

I made it Unity - a decision made before they tried very hard to implode as a company.

I know some people who were about to start a project when the unity debacle kicked off. They were split 50/50 between developing a renderer in house and using unity.
I need to get in touch and see what they decided.

so not really a problem for me here as a hobbyist. Besides, I think it only applies to the latest Unity builds and this was made in an older version. I'm not exactly sure what they landed on in the end in terms of damage control, but it wasn't enough to stop me looking into Godot.
I should have added, I also used Fontforge to create a font from the old Letraset 'Spectrum' typeface used in Terrahawks because it doesn't have a proper digital version.

I do seem to remember playing something like that on my old MSX computer (or possibly my Atari ST) - not a commercially available game it must be said, more of a demo of one that never came out. It was a while back so the old mists of time have clouded the old memory banks but my brother remembers it as well. Either way, top notch and well done :)

That's interesting, because I searched for any official games released at the time thinking that something based on this would be a no-brainer. It's essentially a glorified Tiger Handheld, but anything I found was a Terrahawks game in name only and just very loosely related to the show. The Spectrum version I saw was closest, whilst simultaneously looking like a choppy wireframe nightmare.

Until my brother said that he remembers it as well and used to brag about the high scores in the same way the Sgt Major did :)
I'm leaning towards a small ST promo release as opposed to MSX - back then I worked for a retail shop that sold computers and was on the mailing lists of many companies - to the extent I was still getting demo copies and shop demo software long into the 2000's :)

and it must be the same for the ST. If it was featured on a coverdisk it's probably out there somewhere... If it was mail ordered from a PD classified ad (or one of your weird promos) then you might be out of luck.

After a bit of a head search I am now 90% sure it was a PD of some sort but the chances of finding it are slim to remote as I did give a lot of them away. I have a feeling it was stopped for copyright infringement (a bit like Jelly Monsters on the VIC 20 was) but on a smaller scale. I can ask Jamie Anderson via the tweeter/X but it would have been out before he was born so I doubt he would have any info.

The demo for it was everywhere at one point.
