also it was a rite of passage in these parts that you would leave these things in a local hedge inside a plastic bag for somebody else to page through and return. A free wank bank so to speak.

my first job for an exploration company, at their base they had a store room with jazz mag collections going back to the mid 60s, all organised in plastic crates with labels: Playboy 1968, Hustler 1976, etc.
Playboy had some good writers in the early years. Mailer, O'rourke, Vonnegut ,Hunter, and it was interesting see how the gash shots became less tame as the years progressed

It's astonishing how some of these covers have been locked away in my brain for the last 30+ years.
But become immediately familiar as soon as I see them again. Just like my Dad's extensive Nat Geo collection. It's probably no coincidence that I was reading both of them primarily for tits.
