This is a link post I was getting all annoyed that the media
only ever show people with Tourettes who have agressive verbal tics. I was linked this by a friend as this wonderful person squeaks and says the word 'biscuit' a lot.

This is a normal post I've just watched the clip of her on This Morning from last year
and I was knackered just watching her, it is just constant and must be very draining. Good for her though, in raising awareness.

sorry, i'm of the age where I'm afflicted with the show "John's Not Mad" which when you're 12 was purest comedy!

now I'm a bit older it properly breaks my heart. but Tourettes Hero is pretty damn cool :)

This is a normal post I don't know whether you saw it
but there was a great vid of three guys trying to set up a holiday camp for Tourettes people. It looked like tremendous fun; I'd stay there (Laughing with them, not at them).

I watched that a while back, it was really heartwarming to see them pulling together and trying to help each other and others out.

Only about 10% of tourette's sufferers are affected by coprolalia, which is a separate condition that can occur independently. Although it's understandable why most attention is payed to the minority...it's fucking funny.

Interestingly, deaf people with coprolalia swear in sign language.

This is a normal post The second part of this comment
has blown my mind. Do the other 90% sign random words if deaf?

This is a normal post Basically yes!

This is a normal post It amazed me too.
I've no idea about the other 90%, but it would seem likely. Being that tics are physical there's always the off chance they might accidentally sign something.

A different type of condition, but there was a guy who used to live near me who had no inner monologue. He had to do a running commentary of everything he was doing and thinking. I was stood behind him in the chip shop once and was privy to the intensely difficult time he was having in deciding between fish or chicken. Then he called everyone mother fuckers when they said it would be a 5 minute wait for chips. I had to leave hungry, but full of mirth.

As amusing as it is from the outside, must be so exhausting.
